Recently the members of Post 998 elected new leadership to guide our post into the
2009, 2010 season. Some old faces have been re-elected and some new faces elected,
and all were installed as officers on 1 August 2009. Richard Murphy is now part of the
Executive Committee and board at Lawnton.  He takes the reins as the Junior Vice
Commander, in charge of  post activities and will fill Mike Davies shoes. Mike has
done an excellent job while serving as Junior Vice and has now taken the Senior Vice
Position in charge of post membership. Skip Shradley is back as Adjutant, Bill Yarnell
is back as Finance Officer,  John Kuhn as Judge Advocate and Aide to the Department
Commander, Jim Dinger is back as Chaplain, Gerry Thompson as Service Officer and
Color Guard and Donald Painter is fresh off the 19th District Command and now
occupies the Sergeant @Arms position, as well as the Home Association President.

I look forward to working with all these fine gentlemen and am hoping for a very
smooth transition into the position as Commander. My door will be open to all
We have many tasks ahead but none so important as our membership. I would
personally like to see all our members taking a proactive stance in bringing new
members in. Our Legion is a great place for camaraderie, friendship and support.

I would like to thank all who have supported me in my quest to make the legion a
better place for all our members. A special thanks to Dawn Warholic, my fiancée, for
her tireless efforts in supporting me in all the endeavors I have undertaken. Without
her it would have been impossible...

I wish you all well and
Godspeed
